5

Above our mantel has been a bare spot for about 6 months now. Although this room was the first room to be "somewhat" finished,  I left the mantel bare. I still don't know what I want to do up there, but I knew I didn't want to spend any money on something that wasn't a "final" fix. So one afternoon K and I got to work. I had remembered seeing this image (below) and loving the "5" above the TV. Since there are 5 of us I thought why not. I had a 24" square piece of plywood so I painted and then K "distressed". FYI don't let a 6 year old get crazy with sandpaper...we almost didn't have a 5 left:)

It's not a forever fix but it works for now:)

family organization at a glance

The piles of paper hanging around our family office were getting out of control. I thought I had a decent system down but every week I was left with a huge stack of papers and nowhere to go with them.
Even though our calendars and schedules are done online we still receive a hard copy on just about everything our kids do. So behold....our new way of organizing!
This way I can still see everything, yet it has a place.
This was a very simple and affordable project. I ordered a case of legal size clipboards here, then taped off the bottom 2.5"inches and painted it with chalkboard paint. This way I can switch out sports schedules, school vs. summer activities, and family members!

Click!

I finally bit the bullet and bought a nice camera...well Matt went and bought it. I was taking too long to decide on which brand so he just went to the store and did it. I've only had it a day but here are some pictures I took this afternoon playing around. These are unedited.
Seriously B could be a model. He can be so shy but in front of a camera he does awesome everytime!

C always smiling!
